God's Creatures

I know two posts in one day, but I just couldn't help sharing again. We worked all day while the crock pot cooked dinner. We accomplished much, and it felt so good. I asked Bob if he wanted to sit out on the deck and eat. Dumb question!? He always wants to eat outside if it is warm enough. So I filled 3 plates, and we came outside to eat. While we were enjoying our feast, we enjoyed God's creation. We have three birdhouses (thanks Bill S.), and they are presently all occupied --2 families of bluebirds & 1 chickadee family. It is so cool because at the present time the little ones are growing in the houses getting ready to start the circle of life over again. We watched the daddy bird wander around closely while the momma was sitting on top of the birdhouse keeping watch. At no time were the little ones left alone. Boy can we humans learn a lot from God's creatures. They love each other and watch out for each other at all times.

I went inside to clean up the kitchen, but I couldn't keep myself from coming back outside to watch and share with you all. Right now the beautiful daddy bluebird is sitting on the branch by the house-could care less that I am here. He is just watching out for his family.

That is what I wanted to share so now I will sign off and just enjoy the peaceful atmosphere that God has granted us to care for at this time in our lives. I hope you all have a blessed Lord's Day tomorrow, and remember that He cares for us.

A Day at the Zoo

Yesterday Bobby and I picked up Luke & Kayla for a day at the Indianapolis Zoo. We went via the Indianapolis Airport and picked up grandpa first. We looked forward to a fun day together looking at the animals. I can tell you that seeing the zoo with a 2 & 4 year old is much different than just having Bobby along. You see each exhibit much more quickly. They see that particular animal, and then want to go off to the next one. Certain ones caught their interest, such as the giraffes, zebras, and particularly the sharks. There was a place where you could see and even touch the sharks. (It was inside out of the rain, yeah!) We had to go there twice. Luke tried his hardest to touch one. They just were too far away for his little arm to reach. Part way through the aftenoon we went to the elephant show. We didn't let the drizzling rain stop us. We were determined to have a great time, and we did. We were getting a bit wet, and then I remembered that we had Bobby's 'Spiderman' blanket with us. So grandpa took one end, and grandma had the other one. I wish you could have seen it, but sorry, grandpa accidentally deleted all the pictures. He was trying to get more room on the memory card, and instead of deleting some pictures; they all disappeared. Oh well, the memory will be in our minds as long as we have one!!

Later in the afternoon we enjoyed the dolphin show. It was magnificent except they kept talking about recycling and using those florescent light bulbs. We enjoyed the show in spite of it. After all, we were so glad to be inside out of the rain. The kids were all glued to the dolphins. Luke loved it when the people got wet!! I asked him if he wanted to sit there the next time, and he said an emphatic 'no.'

After observing the sleeping koalas (members only that day), we decided that we had enough rain. And it was 5 o'clock, and two little ones had missed their naps. But they didn't complain about that while they ran from animal to animal. They were so great, and they had such a wonderful time (so did grandpa & grandma!). But they were asleep before we left the parking lot!!

I have to say that it was fun being with grandpa for our first visit with the kids to the zoo. I don't know what was more fun -- being with Bobby and two of our grandkids or watching grandpa watch them have such fun.

We ended our day at Burger King before taking the kids back home to their folks and Nana. We were so thrilled that Nana shared the grandkids withs us during her visit. We are sure that she had a special time with just Krista. Thanks Nana!! Enjoy the remainder of your visit.

Here is the mighty guard dog watching the world to keep it safe for us!!!

Grandpa's Birthday

We had the most delightful time at Eric and Jean's this past Saturday celebrating grandpa's birthday. Joe and Heather even joined us via the telephone. We arrived about 4 pm to appetizers and ended with wonderful gifts for grandpa. Grandma loves them too, especially the remote. It is so easy to use. Thanks guys.

Anyway, Jean made a very delectable dinner for us. She made pork chops with an apple topping, sliced potatoes with seasoning, vegetables, and fresh baked bread. Then we opened presents (some made by the kids!) and sang happy birthday to our 'young' man. Grandpa then enjoyed some key lime pie.

Then while grandma and Jean cleaned up, the guys took the kids for a walk. Down the street went Luke on his bike and the girls were in the wagon. All was well.

We had a great time. Thanks for all your work, Eric and Jean. Let's do it again soon!! I love not making dinner.

Morning at the Mall

Delayed post because I wasn't going to post until I could include pictures. :-) -- Last week we went to the mall to play and walk. We were going to go to the Columbian Park Zoo, but it rained. So we changed our place for fun. We went to the play area first. That didn't last too long because one little boy had to use the facilities. So then we decided to walk the mall. If you have ever been there, you would know that takes a bit of time. Grandma was even able to make a couple of purchases. The kids rode the rides and then we stopped off at the pretzel place for a hot dog wrapped in pretzels. It is so interesting to watch the kids eat them. Luke will take the pretzel off and eat the hot dog. Kayla eats the entire thing. But that is fine. Grandma eats hers and then Luke's pretzel. They love watching the employees make their wares. Then we came home for naps and rest for one tired grandma. But oh how I love my 'grandma days' and wouldn't trade them for anything. We are making such wonderful memories as you will see as time goes on. They are truly a blessing in my life!!

Apron made by Luke, Kayla, and Krista

Well for my first try on posting a picture, I will try and show you the apron the kids made for me for mother's day. It was such a delight to receive, and I have already used it. Thanks kids. I will treasure it always.

Another Picnic at Grandma's

It was another fun day at grandma's for the kids. After Luke got out of school, Jean came over with the three 'jewels of my life' for a picnic and gab session. We were out on the deck eating mini-corn dogs (kids) and chicken salad on lettuce (gals). It was so beautiful. We sat there listening to the kids talk and the birds sing. Then we decided to go feed the horses down the street. So I cut up apples, and off we went to the horse farm. I don't know who was more excited - the kids or me. The horses were not in sight until the one we call "Piglet" saw us from the far side of the barn. He came over followed by the other two, and two of them ate to their heart's content. We hadn't figured out why the little one didn't eat any apples until the other two wandered off. Then he came over only to be forced away by "Piglet." He saw the little one trying to get an apple and came bounding over, and away went the little one. No wonder he stays so small. Another thing we discovered is that horses love dandelions. I didn't know that. They reached through the fence as far as possible to get their treat. I should have them over to our house! After getting tired of the bugs surrounding the horses, we came back home and the kids found a great place to play - under the landing of the rear steps of the deck. It is like a small fort. I think it will be a place to play from now on. Luke and Kayla played under there and then ventured to the front bushes for a game of hide & seek. Krista was occupied on the play porch while grandma and mom talked. It was a delightful time by one and all. I wish I had some pictures, but I wouldn't know how to display them anyway. Some day!! I am sure that Jean will be showing some that she took sometime soon, so go to her blog and enjoy them along wih her version of the afternoon. Ta Ta until next time.

Mother's Day

Today is a special day. Not only is it the Lord's Day, but it is Mother's Day. I received a very special gift of love from Eric and Jean. Jean did the work though. It was the start of this blog. she designed it, edited it, and made it special. I hope to do it justice by making entries often.

We had a lovely dinner together. The only thing that could have made it perfect was if Joe and Heather were here, but they are down in Texas where they have been called by God to live (at least for now).

I also received a new apron with the kid's entries on it. I hope to have a picture of it on here soon. I have to learn how to do it first. :-)

Hope to hear comments from you all soon. And to all of you mothers - have a wonderful day enjoying the wonderful creatures that the Lord has given into your care.
